Champion Raises Over $25,000 for Bowl For Kids’ Sake 2014

COLUMBUS, OH – On February 15, Champion Real Estate Services formed 13 bowling teams to strike up some support for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio and the organization’s annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake fundraiser.

For the second year in a row, Champion more than doubled its fundraising goal—hoping to raise $12,000, but bringing in a total of $25,695.87 as the No. 2 fundraising company in Central Ohio out of 77 companies.

“We could not be more ecstatic about this year’s fundraising effort,” said Michelle Yeager-Thornton, senior vice-president and chief operations officer at Champion. “The fact that we had so many employees who jumped at the chance to give back to the community is a true testament to how amazing the people are who make up the Champion team.”

This was the fourth Bowl For Kids’ Sake for Champion, a long-time supporter of BBBS of Central Ohio. President and CEO, Brian Yeager, has been involved with the organization since 2005.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio is a non-profit prevention-based agency that serves the community by providing quality mentoring relationships to children and youth in need of a friend. This year’s event raised more than $450,000 and will help BBBS fund thousands of mentoring relationships across Central Ohio in 2014.

In addition to sponsoring and participating in BFKS, Champion will sponsor the A Taste of Class for Kids and will host its annual Doc & Yeager golf invitational during the summer to help raise money and awareness for the BBBS mentoring programs.

“At Champion, we feel that it is our civic responsibility to make sure that those in our community who require basic needs assistance, can get that easily.” Yeager-Thornton said. “That is why we will continue to take part in initiatives to give back to the Central Ohio community that has been so supportive of us as a business.”
